Varian GC History

Varian, Inc. was one of the largest manufacturers of instrumentation for the scientific industry.

Varian was spun off from Varian Associates in 1999 and was purchased by Agilent Technologies in May 2010. The Varian chromatography products included GC, HPLC, GC-MS, LC-MS, FT-MS. Atomic spectroscopy product line incorporated pioneering technologies in AAS, ICP-OES and ICP-MS. The Molecular Spectroscopy included UV-Vis-NIR, Fluorescence and FTIR spectrometer systems.

Concerning the history of Varian gas chromatograph, the first was the Model A90. As technology rapidly expanded in the 1960s and 1970s, and even through the 1980s and 1990s, Varian made significant changes in the instrument design and introduced multiple instruments reflecting the enhancements with solid-state electronics, microelectronics, microprocessors, new detector technologies, and new column advancements.

More than 80 distinct gas chromatograph models were produced by Varian, Inc., and its predecessors Varian Associates and Wilkens Instruments. A worldwide and extensive GC and GC/MS installed base has been created in more than 40 years of history. With the Varian acquisition in 2010, a gap is created in the furniture of autosamplers for all this wide installed base.

HTA fills this gap, to let Varian GC and GC-MS go on working efficiently.

Our GC universal autosampler range are compatible with all Varian GC models (including CP-3800, 3900 GC, 3400, 3300, 430 and 450) and Varian Saturn GCMS (including Saturn 2000, 2100 and 2200; 1200).

Also, with the oldest models HTA autosamplers assure highest compatibility because they are self-contained and independent from GC firmware or hardware release, and from the CDS version.

If you have an old Varian GC/GC-MS, do not leave it unused.
