Autosampler for speciation analyzers

HTA Autosamplers' portfolio allows to automate a wide range of analyzers, including not only the most common GC, LC, IC and ICP systems, but also more complex analytical instrumentation.

HT1500U autosampler, in particular, can be used to automate speciation analyzers.

Speciation is the analytical activity of identifying and/or measuring the quantities of one or more individual chemical species in a sample.

The species or chemical form, or oxidation state, of elements determines their properties, including their toxicity. The accurate determination of the species in which an element is present in environmental, food, agricultural and pharma samples, is indeed of crucial importance to classify it.

The speciation analysis must involve, first of all, the effective separation of the different species of the elements and, then, the detection and quantification of these particular species by means of highly sensitive detectors.

The method of choice for speciation analysis is Ion Chromatography (IC) coupled with Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (IC-ICP-MS).

IC allows to separate the different species (such as the different species of arsenic, selenium and chromium) before introducing them to the plasma source of the ICP/MS that, thanks to its detection strength, enables the reliable determination of ultra traces of potentially dangerous species.

HT1500U can successfully automate IC-ICP-MS systems for the speciation analysis of trace species in environmental and industrial samples.
